Troop 777's Outings

The troop tries to go on an outing a month. Activities range from hiking to snow camping. Most of the time there is someone who remembers to bring their camera along, and when they do, the troop is provided with a record of the memories that were shared by all.

The most recent outing that the troop went on was a snow camping trip on the south side of Mt Hood. The snow was about eight feet deep, which is plenty to build igloos- the preferred style of lodging when we go to the snow. While we were there, we built four snow igloos that were 11' in diameter and 6' tall. It took us about ten hours to build all four. This is one of the most anticipated outing each year.

Below you will be able to view some of the photos that were taken on this outing.

"The machine", this is the device that we use to build our igloos. It was purchased from a company called Grand shelters, check it out. As each row is added the igloo begins to take shape. Soon we will have a nice warm place to sleep. Someone was taking a break. I wonder who that might be? Only the shadow knows!

This is the view from one of the four igloos that we built. It's well worth the time spent making the igloos isn't it? Progress on igloo number two, keep working guys! This is the open air kitchen where we prepaired our meals and snacks. All the conveniences of home... hehe!

A view of the first igloo completed. Time to move in! The front door, is the hole that is below the wall of the igloo. It is placed there to keep the cold outside air from filling the igloo at night. After setting through a night of freezing tempratures the igloos are strong enough to hold several scouts on it's top.
