The third term introduced me to Adobe Illustrator and the world of vector graphics. This concept wasn't new to me because I have been a CAD operator for the last fifteen years. The use of vectors is an integral part of CAD, but with a less artistic flare. Illustrator mixes the precision of CAD with the power to introduce an artistic touch into your work. It also is much more versatile in its uses.

This self-portrait was the first project of the class. We were asked to take a photo of ourselves (inset) and trace it, trying to stay as close to the original image as possible.

For the Mid-Term project we had to create a poster that focused on an event in our local area. I chose to do a poster for the jazz festival because there is a competition every year for that year's poster. The competition had past when I did this poster, but I may enter it this year. The nice thing about computer graphics is that you can go back and make edits without having to redo the entire project.

The last project of the term we had to develop a series of signs for a zoo. The main signs for each area could use words, but the directional signs within each habitat area could only use icons. I chose to use silhouettes for the directional signs because the shapes of the animals would be recognizable at greater distances.
