My fifth term introduced me to the fantastic world of 3D rendering and animation. This has been my favorite class so far. I am a woodcarver and I have always been able to see a carving in my mind before I start carving it. Drawing in 3D is much the same as carving except there isn't a chance that I might cut myself . The two projects below were some of the components used to create my final animation. It was amazing how easy it was to loose track of time while working on each week's project. They were, however, very enjoyable hours.
My first project was to create a table and place three items on it. I chose to build a pedestal table and to decorate it with a candlestick, two wine goblets, and glass plates with cheese. I also made a braided rug for the floor and hung a picture of my family on the wall. It was awesome how real the textures could appear with a little experimentation.

In preparation for the final animation, I needed an actor to guide the viewer through the room that I had been working on for the first few weeks of class. The monarch butterfly was my choice for this task. This scene is one of the many test renders that were done in preparation for the final animation.
The logo to the right is a 3D rendition of the one that I developed in my first term for my class portfolio. It is part of the opening segment of my final animation. I have created a link to my final video. By clicking on the image of the logo it will launch it in Windows media player (the file is 2.8 meg in size which may take a while on slow connections).
